September 2026 UK show jumping fixtures
September is the last proper outdoor month for a lot of British yards. Second rounds and county-show rings are still running, and HOYS is already on the October horizon. Dates below are the ones published as of mid-August 2026. British Showjumping still marks summer qualifying venues as provisional, so treat this as a planning list, then confirm the schedule and class list on the official site before you enter.
The bigger affiliated dates
| Dates | Show | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 5-6 September | Wolsingham & Wear Valley | British Showjumping on the county-show ground. Listed on the official Summer 2026 qualifiers page as a Horse of the Year Show Grade C Championship venue. |
| 10-13 September | Chard Equestrian | Multi-day affiliated meeting. BS lists 10-13 September against Chard on the same summer qualifier sheet. |
| 14-20 September | Arena UK Festival, Lincolnshire | The week-long British Showjumping meeting. Official centre listing: Arena UK Festival, Monday 14 to Sunday 20 September 2026. |
| 12 September | Stanhope Show, Area 12A Senior Trophy | Affiliated senior trophy class on the agricultural-show weekend. Listed on Horsevents. |
If you are watching rather than competing, Spruce Meadows Masters in Calgary runs 9-13 September 2026. Competitor information lists 8-13 for CSIO5, CSI2 and national. Dates are on the official Spruce Meadows site.
HOYS is not a September show this year. Horse & Hound's 2026 calendar puts Horse of the Year Show on 7-11 October. Use September to get the last outdoor miles in, then switch the homework to indoor tracks.
What the Arena UK week is for
Arena UK's September meeting is a full week of affiliated jumping. The official class list already includes senior Newcomers first-round classes, and the summer qualifier sheet also parks several second-round and championship routes at Arena UK. If you are aiming at Newcomers, Foxhunter or league finals, check whether your ticket is a first round, a second round, or a championship class before you box up.
Late-summer grass and a seven-day show are a different ask from a Tuesday night 90cm. See preparing your horse for competition season and the show-day packing list.
Local and unaffiliated nights
Most September jumping is midweek and club nights. Dates already listed for September 2026 include:
- Tuesday showjumping at Northallerton Equestrian Centre (1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 September)
- Evening showjumping at The Hollies (2 September) and Edenthorpe (3, 10, 17, 24 September)
- Friday Night Fences at the RDA Unicorn Centre (4 and 18 September)
- York & District Riding Club clear-round at Wigginton (4 September)
- Unaffiliated Star of the North championship final at Stainsby Grange (20 September)
- British Showjumping seniors Category 2 at Stainsby Grange (27 and 30 September)
Those grassroots dates come from Horsevents' September diary. It is strongest for the north of England and is not a complete national list. For affiliated search by date and area, use the official British Showjumping show calendar.
How to use September if you design tracks
September county and festival weeks are useful even if you never sit on the lorry.
- Freeze the class list before you draw the track. Names on the secretary sheet and names on the plan have to match.
- Set the arena size and the right standard in the course designer. Use BS / FEI validation as a planning aid, not as a substitute for the printed schedule.
- Check related distances for the horse or pony that will actually jump it. The stride calculator is the same maths as the designer.
- Number once, then issue builder and athlete plans from the same file. See how to number a show jumping course.
- Walk it after the build. How to walk a course still applies on a county-show grass ring.
If you are running the day as well as the track, online entries and start lists save the usual email pile-up.
